Our origins story
Our story began in 1977 with City Securities Limited. In 1982, we achieved a significant milestone by obtaining a banking license for our operations as First City Merchant Bank, setting a precedent for innovation in the financial sector. In 2001, we became First City Monument Bank, reflecting our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of a universal demography, driven by purpose and innovation. In 2004, we became listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and, in 2005, we expanded our capabilities through strategic acquisitions while demonstrating resilience during industry reforms. In the years that followed, we significantly expanded our presence, reflecting our vision and ability to deliver impactful financial solutions across borders.
Our transformation
In 2007, we took a major step forward, welcoming even more shareholder support to fuel our growth. We welcomed FinBank into the family in 2012 and, in 2013, restructured into a holding company, FCMB Group Plc, to better serve our clients and adapt to a dynamic industry. This transformation positioned us as a unified group, enhancing our ability to deliver positive impact across global markets, leveraging The Power of the Group.
